The Province and the Cuthbert Cup
Bearsden CC participated in the first Dunbartonshire Province competition of the season, the Cuthbert Cup, on Saturday 14th October. The competition is played between eight clubs with two teams from each club; one team playing at 12:30 and one at 16:00.
The Bearsden team for the 12:30 match was: Simon Blyth (skip), Peter Harden, Drew Crawford, and John Dunlop. The team lost 9-8 to Alma in a very close match.
The team for the 16:00 match was: Drew Crawford (skip), Eilidh Crawford, John Dunlop, and Shona Forbes. The team won 7-4 against Dumbarton, again in a fairly close match.
The competition is decided on points then shots up and both Helensburgh and Kelvinside finished on a maximum of 4 points for two wins. However Helensburgh had the higher shots up and were duly awarded the Cuthbert Cup. Bearsden will participate in two more one day Province competitions this season: the Kirkwood Cup on Saturday 10th February 2024 and the Fraser Pairs on Tuesday 12th March 2024.
Bearsden also participate in the main Province league competitions, the Allan Cup and the Allan Medal.
