Ladies Curling 2023-24

Ladies Branch – New Glasgow Trophy

Skip Joan has been leading the charge in this particular competition with success.

On 11 October Joan, Geraldine and Hazel were joined by Charlotte Tierney who kindly agreed to fill a gap in our team, Together they had a 10 – 2 win against a team skipped by Libby Torrance. This momentum continued on 18 October when our rink won 8 – 6 against a rink from Maxwell Ladies. On this occasion Joan, Hazel and Charlotte were joined by Mary as Geraldine was unable to play. Our rink then had a bye in the next round played on 25 October.

The semi-final now beckons on Wednesday 25 November when Joan, Geraldine, Alison and Ann will do their best on the ice.

New Glasgow Trophy – Semi-Final

Our Bearsden ladies, on this occasion, Joan, Geraldine, Ann and Alison, put up a valiant fight in their semi-final against a strong Glasgow Ladies rink. Unfortunately the game ended with three ends each and Glasgow Ladies having last stone in the seventh and final end.

Alison, as Ladies Convener, would like to thank all the Bearsden ladies, ably skipped by Joan, for supporting this competition and playing so well.

Bearsden Curling Club – Ladies Report 2023/24

The ladies of Bearsden Curling Club have always been well represented in RCCC and
Province Competitions delivering success for the club on many occasions. However, it is
becoming more difficult to continue this tradition, due to the reduced number of ladies who are
available to play.
The season began with Geraldine participating in the RCCC Opening Bonspiel on 27
September. Up until November, we put in a strong performance in the New Glasgow
Trophy. Despite the rink not being beaten on ends throughout the competition we finished
mid-table.

In the second half of the season we competed in the McDermid Trophy, which we had not
played in the previous year, and again we ended mid table in this competition.
For the first time, in a number of years, two of our members Alison and Geraldine, competed
in the Morton Trophy with other RCCC club members. Geraldine also played in the Closing
Bonspiel on 20 March.

I would like to thank Joan, Geraldine, Valerie, Hazel, Ann, Mary and Charlotte Tierney for
representing Bearsden CC and for their support throughout the season.
