Getting to Greenacres

Bearsden CC participated in the first Dunbartonshire Province competition of the season, the Cuthbert Cup, on Saturday 14th October. The competition is played between eight clubs with two teams from each club; one team playing at 12:30 and one at 16:00. Bearsden played against Dumbarton in a close game on Wednesday 29 November in the round robin. The game concluded with a 7-6 win to Bearsden. Now through to the semi-finals on Wednesday 13 December brings us up against the skill of Kelvinside. Ross, Simon, Alan and Alison – we will give it our best!

This competition is played on a knock-out basis by one rink per club. This year the participating clubs are Nondes, Bearsden, Cawder House, Cadder, Greenacres and Helensburgh with the first games being played on Tuesday 9 January. Simon, Peter, Alan and John are representing Bearsden and we wish them good curling in their game tonight.

The annual competition took place on Saturday the 21st February. In the words of our President Eilidh as we approached the end opf the 8th end, “I think I know who’s won!”. Bearsden members are out and about at the start of the curling season.  John Dunlop in the Irish Curling Association’s first game of the new season at Greenacres Ice Rink. John was in the winning rink with team mates Maria O’Neill, Charlotte Tierney and skip Neil Fyfe.
