On this occasion eight clubs participated in the competition – Helensburgh, Bearsden Ski, Bearsden, Alma, Kelvinside, Dumbarton, Cadder and Partick.  Each game was three ends and each player had three stones. The 1911 Centenary Bonspiel is an annual event between the four curling clubs who were founded in 1911 viz. Bearsden, Craigie Hill, Monifieth and Wengen. Simon is this weekend umpiring at the prestigious Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Championship being held at the Dewars Centre, Perth over 22 – 25 January.   This Championship is a Scotland wide competition with 15 couples teams.   The rinks playing include several previous National and World Champions including the familiar names of Dodds/Mouat, Aitken/Hardie, McMillan/Craik…

This was a keenly fought competition between the Ladies and Gents of Bearsden Curling Club.  Due to the shortage of female members in the club some of our gents very kindly assisted in the Ladies Team.  Surprisingly, for the second year running, the Gents came out on top!  Apparently by a 6 point lead…… though…
