For the attention of ladies

From Alison Barr

This is the time of year when all clubs have to submit entries for RCCC Ladies Branch – Greenacres based competitions. These offer an opportunity to play against other curlers with varying styles of play and to experience playing at other rinks with different ice conditions.  A great way to improve curling skills.

With this in mind, I detail below the competitions which we can enter:-

Province Opening Bonspiel & Closing Bonspiels – both one 2 hour game which individuals enter stating which rink position they would prefer to play and are placed in mixed club teams for this Bonspiel.  These fun Bonspiels will be played in October and March (actual dates unknown as yet)

New Glasgow Trophy – An individual or club rink entry of five members (ideally) to allow flexibility to cover any unexpected call offs. Held on Wednesdays, 12.30pm October – November.  Usually 5 or 6 games maximum.

Ada Provan Rosebowl – A Club rink entry of four members. One day Bonspiel – 2nd or last Wednesday in November either a 10.30am or 12.30pm game.

McDermid Senior Trophy – An individual or club rink entry of five members (ideally)   Held on Tuesdays, 12.30pm January – February, again 4 or 5 games maximum

Morton Trophy – an individual entry. Teams will be made up of any club members which play at Greenacres and the opportunity to play at other rinks arises.

Well ladies, please let me know by Saturday 12 March which competitions you fancy playing in.  I am hopeful we can get Bearsden Rinks and/or individuals playing in the above events.
