Getting to Greenacres

The annual friendly game between Partick CC and Bearsden CC took place yesterday afternoon. The Partick Rink was skipped by David Scott and our Bearsden Rink was skipped by Geraldine. An enjoyable and friendly game was played out with Skip Geraldine ably taking the Bearsden Rink to successfully winning the game.
Congratulations to John Dunlop who was one of the Bearsden Curlers who participated in the Invitational Partick Points Competition held on Thursday 7 December at Greenacres. John came third in this competition and won a bottle of wine for his Christmas celebrations. Well done John.
Sunday 17 March saw 24 curlers from the above clubs venture onto the ice at Greenacres to challenge their skills in specific shots. The competition took the format of each curler having two attempts at nine specific shot disciplines, ranging from guards and draws to tap-backs, double take-outs and drawing through the port! This was a keenly fought competition between the Ladies and Gents of Bearsden Curling Club. Due to the shortage of female members in the club some of our gents very kindly assisted in the Ladies Team. Surprisingly, for the second year running, the Gents came out on top! This week saw both Simon and Ross compete in their respective rinks in the Qualifying Rounds for the Scottish National Masters. This was held at Greenacres over 7 – 9 November.
