Arrived safely at Gangneung after a few interesting days in Seoul.

Met Bruce Mouat in the lobby!! Very unassuming man.  Passed on congratulations. The Scots hired a Scottish pub for all 50 family and friends to celebrate ๐Ÿพ on the evening of their win in Canada!! World Champions you can’t do better than that!!

Practice Ice tomorrow at 9.00am – will be ready with my broom. First game 9pm v Oz.

RR reporting in……

Just back from practice session in the arena, normally an ice hockey arena. 10 minutes practice on all 6 sheets.

Feel I am name dropping again….however  I will go for it, at the arena we were chatting to Rhona Howie and Kevin Martin who are providing the tv commentary for the Mixed Doubles. Also chatting with Jackie Lockhart in the bar.

Moving on to the excitement of the first game against Australia. Ireland took an early lead but Australia fought back with a steal in the 5th end.  However a 5 from Ireland in the 6th finished the game and Ireland ran out with a controlled win 8-7.  Looking forward to taking on Estonia tomorrow at 12pm.

RR needs to sleep, it’s 1.49am….

22/4/23

RR here…..

When not curling, we have had the opportunity to experience the fascinating Korean street life, ranging from live sea food (take your pick) to roadside multi-storey steamers and frenetic markets.

Had a good game against Estonia, winning 11 – 4 after 7 ends. Two tough games coming up against USA and Scotland.

RR over and out

23/4/23 Roving Reporter Almost in Bother!

RR reporting in.

Well, we thought we had 2 tough games ahead….. no truer words said.

A very tough game against USA, a loss 7 – 2, although we did have an opportunity to peel with the last stone but we gave away a 2.

Today facing another tough game, this time against Scotland, the team had to be focused.  Scotland held an early lead but the game turned in Ireland’s favour when a roller coaster second half took proceedings all the way to an extra end where Ireland stole 2 to clinch victory.

Such excitement  ๐Ÿ˜!!! RR struggled not to jump up and down at the Coach’s bench, but was told not even a  ๐Ÿ˜ƒ acceptable!!

25/4/23

Roving Reporter here at the end of a nerve-wracking game against Slovenia.

Ireland only had 10 seconds to play their final stone and finished with 5 seconds on the board..

๐Ÿคฎ.. game over.  Thank goodness., 6 – 4 win!!.

Two games to go in the Round Robin – Wales and Norway. ๐Ÿคž

Between games managed a walk on the nature reserve….. met some characters.

26/4/23 A Nervy Time

RR reporting in with difficultyโ€ฆโ€ฆ. If I was someone who bit their nails, they would be gone without trace, perhaps the poor wee fingers too!

Ross tells me he felt the situation was under control, it didnโ€™t feel that way sitting on the bench!  Nevertheless a 6-4 win keeps Ireland

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

in second position in Group C.   Final round Robin game tomorrow at 8.00am against Norway. Looking for a win to ensure a quarterfinal place.

RR going to sit on her

29/04/23 Roving Reporter Signing Off

RR here.

Had difficulty keeping up with the Irish since their defeat by Canada  but managed to catch their lead player, Ross, in the lobby at 2.30am.  In interview he stated

“Thanks for all the support.. Unfortunately we were unable to maintain our form for the QFs and Canada came with their A game. They played very well and did not miss a shot. We were well beaten. Disappointed but enjoyed the experience. Scotland came through a tight game against Sweden and play Switzerland in the SF. Coach says it is time to celebrate our achievement as team ranked 5th through the Round Robin stage. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ “

As always the team follow Coach’s guidance………

Now sitting in the Stadium to watch both Scottish Ladies and Gents in the Gold/Silver  Both on practice Ice at present.  At this point RR lets her heart rule – Come On the Scots!!.

Team Ireland have had the most amazing experience.

Over and Out from RR.

RR reporting in for the last time.

It was with great excitement we watched the final games. Scotland v Canada in both Ladies and Men.

Unfortunately on this occasion the Canadians were too good, playing some top class curling.  Worthy winners of the gold. Nevertheless a good performance by Scotland, two silver medals๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿฅ‡

Team Ireland packing their cases, thankful for an incredible experience.

RR signing off.๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹

Many thanks to our own Roving Reporter!
