GoFibre Scottish Curling Senior Championships
The eagerly anticipated GoFibre Scottish Curling Senior Championships took place this weekend from Thursday, February 13, to Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Curl Forfar
The championship featured both men’s and women’s senior teams, all vying for the esteemed title. The competition; available to those aged 50 and over delivered high-calibre curling action, highlighting the skill and dedication of Scotland’s senior curlers.
In the men’s draw, twelve teams competed. Multiple world champion Hammy MacMillan looked to defend the crown he gained last year. The women’s draw features defending champions Team Kennedy, with skip Karen Kennedy from our own Greenacres rink, hoping to once again lead her charges to Scottish glory.
Scottish Curling CEO, Vincent Bryson, said of the event. “On both the men’s and women’s side of the draw we have past world champions, Olympians and Scottish Champions and the competitive edge hasn’t dulled one bit! It’s always an exciting event to attend to see some great curlers in action and the camaraderie off the ice is great to be a part of.”
After four days of exciting play, the final in the Men’s was played by Team Brewster from Aberdeen and Team Cormack from Moray with Brewster winning 7-4 over Cormack. The Ladies was won by Team Lockhart from Aberdeen who won 9-1 over Team Agnew from Stranraer.
We wish both teams from Aberdeen every success in the World Seniors Championships in Fredericton, Canada in April. Good luck Team Lockhart and Team Brewster!!
