Centenary Bonspiel

The 1911 Centenary Bonspiel is an annual event between the four curling clubs who were founded in 1911 viz. Bearsden, Craigie Hill, Monifieth and Wengen. It was first held in 2011 to mark the centenary of the four clubs.

Bearsden CC won the1911 Centenary Bonspiel Trophy last March at Perth Ice Rink and, as the holders, we hosted the Centenary Bonspiel this year, on Saturday 9th March at Greenacres.  The Bonspiel took the form of two teams each from Wengen, Craigie Hill and Bearsden Clubs playing. Unfortunately this year Monifieth Club were unable to join us. The game was followed by a meal and friendships were renewed and established over the day.

As stated by John D when announcing the results, Bearsden were holding up the other teams with Wengen being placed second and Craigie Hill taking home the Centenary Trophy presented to them by our Vice-President Eilidh.

Thanks to our Bearsden members – Campbell, Peter D, Alison,  John, Alan, Peter H, Emily and Eilidh – for supporting this Bonspiel.
