Ladies Curling 2024-25

Albeit this season has been a quiet one for the ladies of Bearsden CC, we are gearing up with thoughts returning to planning for next season.

Bearsden CC has traditionally been well represented in Scottish Curling Province competitions.  These offer an opportunity to play against other curlers with varying styles of play and to experience playing at other rinks with different ice conditions.  A great way to improve curling skills.

With this in mind, we aim to enter at least two of the following competitions next season.

Province Opening Bonspiel & Closing Bonspiels – both one 2 hour game which individuals enter stating which rink position they would prefer to play and are placed in mixed club teams for this Bonspiel.

New Glasgow Trophy – we aim for a Bearsden Rink of five members.  Held on Wednesdays, daytime, between October and December.  Usually 5 or 6 games maximum.

McDermid Trophy – again we would aim for a Bearsden CC rink of five members to allow flexibility to cover any unexpected call offs.  Held on Tuesdays, daytime, between January and March, again 4 or 5 games.

Morton Trophy – an individual entry. Teams will be made up of any club members which play at Greenacres and the opportunity to play at other rinks arises.

Those interested should contact Alison Barr for additional information.  Looking forward to enthusiastic support!

Bearsden Curling Club – Ladies Report 2024/25
Traditionally the ladies of Bearsden Curling Club have been well represented in
RCCC and Province Competitions delivering success for the club on many
occasions. However, it is becoming more difficult to continue this tradition, due to
the reduced number of ladies who are available to play.
Both Geraldine and Valerie represented Bearsden CC in the RCCC Opening and
Closing Bonspiels this season.
Although next season we do not have sufficient numbers to commit to Province
competitions, our aim is to consolidate the Ladies Section and participate in RCCC
one day Bonspiels. Hopefully building on that experience we can enter a rink in
Province Competitions.
