Curling in Preston

The weekend of 11 – 13 September saw the first Bonspiel that Bearsden curlers had played in at the amazing Flower Bowl Entertainment Complex in Garstang, near Preston.

Eight players from the combined clubs of the Glasgow West League played four games over the three days with mixed success.   The one other Scottish rink, from Edinburgh, had more success against the very skilful English rinks, and were placed second to Team Waring, current English Mixed Champions.

Curling aside we participated in a General Knowledge Quiz, had our evening meal with the other rinks and proved to be winners at the Crazy Golf which was hotly contested by all curlers.

All in all a very enjoyable Curling Bonspiel and fun weekend, one which I have no doubt, will be repeated.
